A Lovely Trio

A Lovely Trio

Some of you who visit often know that I am in the middle of a kitchen renovation.
The new counter tops, stainless sink and fixtures were installed last weekend.  We will be tiling this weekend.
I wanted some new towels for my "new" kitchen.  I searched and searched and couldn't find anything I liked......  so I decided to make my own.
When remodelling.....  I chose a timeless look.  White painted cabinets, black granite counter tops, stainless appliances and hardwood floors.  I wanted the same in accessories.
I wanted something classic that also satisfied my love of shabby chic.
I added hand torn ruffles to a set of plain kitchen towels.  The ruffles were pretty but not "frilly" enough for me.  They needed a little "something".  I made a bunch of different sized flowers and roses from strips of fabric, lace and buttons.
Now I LOVE them!

Wishing all of you a happy and safe
Labor Day weekend!
Elizabeth

Handmade Luxury

Luxury Garment Hangers

I LOVE vintage clothing!
I have a huge collection of antique and vintage dresses.
Many are delicate, fragile and can no longer be laundered or even dry cleaned.
With such collections.....  also comes the task of protecting them from the elements.  Dust and sun damage are major culprits.
I wanted to find a "pretty" way to display them and protect them at the same time.
The perfect solution......  pretty handmade garment hangers.  Now my prized dresses not only look beautiful but are beautifully protected.  My closets and armoire look so pretty and organized.
How luxurious!

Have a lovely week!
Blessings.

The Boudoir ~ Vintage Vanity

 The Boudoir

The boudoir.......  my sanctuary.
My bedroom is my favorite room in the house.  Filled to the brim with lovely things.
When I wake in the morning.....  it excites my eyes as I look around the room.  It's also the place where I relax and lay my head at the end of the day.  Where I drift off into sweet dreams.
LOL!  My bedroom really is filled to the brim.  My antique bed is stacked high with vintage pillows and quilts, my armoire is filled with fluffy tulle dresses, and the dresser(s)....... not room for one more thing.
I especially love vintage vanity items.  Beautiful perfume bottles, powder boxes and brush & comb sets.  It's like stepping into a 1940's film.  When the women were glamorous.....  as they sat at their vanity dresser.......  combing their hair, pinching their cheeks and powdering their noses.  They dressed in beautiful lingerie and wore lots of sparkly jewellery.  So.....  old Hollywood!
I am curious.........  what's on your dresser??

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!
Blessings.

Simply Irresistible!

I love Vintage!

For a long time I resisted collecting vintage clothing and jewelry.
I was already collecting vintage furniture, china and linens.
Then.............  I found my very first 1950's tulle dress!  I was smitten.  It was the prettiest dress I'd ever seen.  It was a pale mint green with layers and layers of tulle ruffles.
I purchased it for $50 at a local flea market and remember thinking that it was a lot of money to spend on a dress I'd never wear.
Once I got it home I decided it needed some vintage rhinestone jewelry to dress it up.  And........  the rest is history.  Now I LOVE vintage clothing, jewelry, hats and handbags.  I have amassed quite a collection.  I have narrowed it down to collecting only pieces from the 30's, 40's and 50's.  Okay....  I admit.....  I do have a few Victorian - Edwardian pieces but not many.  I'm always on the look out for great pieces.
Today I am sharing some recent finds.  A lovely 1950's jacket and petticoat.  The jacket is beautiful with it's fabulous scalloped fur collar!  I just love these old fluffy petticoats!!  They are just gorgeous! and simply irresistible.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week.
God Bless.
