Pink Organdy - Happy Pink Saturday!

PINK ORGANDY

Spring is here!
Out with the old and in with the new.
I change my dress forms with the seasons (more often....  I'm sure).
I purchased this gorgeous 1950's pink organza party dress on Etsy for less than $100.....  a sweet deal!
Not only is it in mint condition! but.....
it has a lovely full length tulle petticoat underneath.
Isn't she lovely?

Antique Cherub - Show and Tell Friday

Re-purposed Lamp Base

Was on my way to the post office and ended up at the flea market.
Hmmmmm......  funny how that happens.  LOL!
I found this beautiful old Cherub lamp base....  in poor condition and no longer suitable for it's intended purpose.
The cherub was so lovely..... I just had to buy it.
What I found most charming.....  was the old enamel paint.
I knew I could do "something" with it.
I took it apart.....  discarded the lamp parts and re-assembled it.
The top "bowl" had little holes all the way around.  I have a box of old chandelier parts I keep on hand for just such a project.  I was able to find enough crystal prisms to fill all the holes.
It now makes a lovely candle holder or vase.  Would even look wonderful filled with soaps on a vanity.
I decided to fill it with dryed roses.... for now.

Have a great weekend!

French Charm - White Wednesday

My newest antique dress form.... a Wolf with a cage bottom.
I LOVE her!
What a wonderful find.
She stood a bit tall.... so, I decided to remove the pole and stand.  She's the perfect height resting directly on the wire cage.
She needed dressing up.  I wanted to create a French feel.  First I added an antique lace collar and some vintage rhinestone and pearl necklaces.   Then layered on a handmade muslin and vintage lace bag.  The bag needed a little something, too.....  so, I added a vintage pin to the center of the fabric & lace flower.
I made a belt with a large flower from a piece of vintage Ilet fabric.
To hide the hole (top of neck) where the pole inserts....  I added some antique lace.
She is just gorgeous!

Have a wonderful day!

Crushed Velvet & Antique Lace ~ Heart Pin Cushion

Crushed Velvet & Antique Lace
Heart Pin Cushion
I found this wonderful old, very tightly stuffed, heart shaped pillow at the flea market some time ago.  I put it away because I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it.  I found it the other day and decided to use it as a pin cushion to display my collection of vintage pins and cameos.  It has ribbon attached for hanging and long beautiful lace.  To dress it up a bit....  I added some old millinery flowers.  It's not only beautiful but serves a great purpose.

Vintage Ballet ~ Show and Tell Friday

I love the ballet.  So graceful and feminine.
I found this little pink tutu (first photo) a few weeks ago.
It's just as sweet as can be?
It is handmade and probably from the 1950's.
It came with a handmade floral headband and two satin arm bands.
I can't resist the satin and tulle, rhinestones and pointe shoes.
I have several vintage ballet costumes....  thought I would share a couple of my favorites.
Enjoy!

Happy Friday!
